Some... Peggy Hiscock, Carol Squibb (nee Soper), Ralph Jerrett, Ches Ash... all retired from teaching, living in Carbonear. Lorna Button (nee Boutcher) lives in Harbour Grace. Elise Fillier (nee Skinner) lives in Bay Roberts and substitutes at my school. I consider her a good friend. My fondest memories of high school:
When teaching with him at Carbonear Collegiate, Bill Kennedy (Physical Ed) often reminded me of the many hair-brained excuses I use to come up with while at JMRH just so I could wiggle my way out of gym class.....sports was (is) definitely not my thing!!!If I could go back and change one thing about high school, it would be:
I would try to be more out-going. I think I missed out on a lot of socilization because I lacked so much confidence in myself.JMCH teachers or programs that had a lasting impact on my life:
Definitely.. Herman Greening was one. I didn't even realize it until I was teaching with him. He never said very much in the Staffroom but when he did speak everyone listened because he had something important to contribute to the discussion. My career/life ambition in high school:
Also, Ed Somerton (anyone remember him?)...he taught (or should I say "got me through") Physics. He was not at JMRH very long. Have often wondered what became of him.
My goal was always to become a Teacher. Working with students in the field of Special Education has provided me great personal satisfaction. The theme song for my graduation was:
Didn't attend.....sorry now!I would consider attending a JMCH reunion:
